About Tellings . . .

A Telling is something I struggled to find a name for at first, because it isn’t quite a meditation, and it isn’t simply a story.

It is a deeply expressive and poetic piece of spoken writing designed to feel as though the words are spoken from your nervous system or internally - TELLING you how it feels.

Putting language around emotions, thoughts and sensations that can be incredibly difficult to explain when we are the ones living amongst them.

I created Tellings after years of learning about emotional wellbeing, working with people, listening to their stories and becoming fascinated by the way our inner world communicates with us, often long before we understand what it is trying to say.

What I kept noticing was that people don’t always need another person telling them what to do.

Sometimes we need to feel understood by ourselves!

We need words that make us think, Yes. That. That is exactly how I feel. Once something has been recognised, it can become a little easier to understand, it softens and moves through you.

I wanted to create something that felt different from traditional guided meditation, because not everybody wants to sit perfectly still, empty their mind or be continually instructed to breathe, visualise or relax. Tellings are designed to meet you in real life.

You might listen when your thoughts won’t settle, when you are overwhelmed, before work, during a difficult season, while travelling, or simply when you want a few beautiful minutes away from the noise of everything else.

Each one uses storytelling, imagery and carefully chosen language to gently change the way you experience what is happening inside you.

Some explore anxiety, burnout or racing thoughts, while others are about confidence, self-love, motivation, possibility and remembering just how extraordinary it is to be alive. And that is really why I created Tellings.

I wanted words to become somewhere we could go. Somewhere that doesn’t demand anything from us.

Somewhere we might recognise ourselves, understand ourselves a little more deeply and leave carrying something different from what we arrived with.

Because sometimes one beautifully placed sentence can reach a part of us that a hundred instructions never could.

MIND - YOUR BUSINESS

One of the most interesting things I have learned about the mind is that it can be remarkably bad at recognising when the day is over, because while we may have finished work, closed the computer, wal
